Multiplex 3030 and 4000
transmitters are just fantastic but the sticks were not meant for thumb top pilots. For
years I've used a rubber pad on top of the stick which helps, but it still feels a bit
unconnected, especially in the cold. Enter stage left the JR spares catalogue and part
number JRC47123 : Anodised Stick - Gold (Short - 19mm),
which is the same size as the shortest MPX stick end. You can get them here
in the UK.
The JR units are threaded and
MPX sticks ends are not, so you need to spend 15 minutes filing away the thread from the
inside of your new stick ends. When done apply a little epoxy to the stick and slip the
new end on. Obviously you'll want to carefully measure the stick height to make sure they
are the same as your old sticks.
I happened to have some plastic
tubing of the right diameter and put that on before the new stick ends to add a collar.
Not quite sure why, I think I was looking for an air of mystery and excitement!?
