From 2001 the BMFA Nation
60" Pylon Racing League in the UK has gone all EPP. The decision was made by the
pilots within the league and I am sure it will prove to be the right one. Having flown in
full blooded crunchy racing with four models together for many years people were getting
so jaded by constant repairs that the future of the league was in doubt.
As well as being cheaper, more
accessible and just as competitive, the new league is also fairer - we didn't all have the
time to keep our crunchy racers in A1 condition whereas with foamies it's much less of an
issue.
Composite 60" racers are
such great planes in their own right I've included two of the best below, even though they
are no longer "race legal".
Having recently been test
flying the Sblits EPP racer there will be a report to follow soon. There is also an Enigma
review, which, although now a little outdated, was the first of its type so it deserves a
mention.
