Each year at Easter many F3F pilots from around the globe descend on the hill for their annual Open International. In 2002 there were 61 entries from Spain, Portugal, England, Wales, America, France, Slovakia and Norway. The event attracts some of the best pilots around who enjoy the great lift when the wind blows and the great fun to be had when it doesn't. Alas, 2002 was to be a year when the wind didn't show but that didn't stop the fun. In fact I would say that socially this was the best of the four times I have visited the La Muela. So much fun was had a full write-up may follow but for now you'll have to make do with a few photos. |
Espen Torp enjoying a little DHLG. |
Sc00p scheming - there was never a dull moment. TwinStars, alarm clocks, bedroom furniture, model boxes, stickers, video antics and various other sources of amusement brought smiles all-round. |

During a combat session I tipped Alex out of the sky and down the hill. After a few minutes of looking Alex found that his foamie had disappeared down one of the caves that burrow into the hill. |

The Wizard Compact II of Espen Torp used a one-piece tail. |

The Corracho, made in Germany and flown by one of the French team. I think we'll be hearing more of this model... |

Plenty of Acacias to be seen. |

Alex McMeekin's own design 'indoor' model made several appearances - went well. |
