The largest UK F3F competition
for a while - I believe over 35 competitors - took place at the White Sheet on 28/4/02.
The weather was a challenge,
with several rain showers, but we somehow we managed to squeeze 4 rounds in.
Team places for the English
Viking Race team were at stake so there was a lot to play for. If you're tuning in from
outside the UK you'll be disappointed to learn that the standard was exceptionally high.
The likes of McMeekin, Dakin, Southall and McCurdy, were flying with skill and
intelligence.
The conditions necessitated a
real understanding of quite what you could get from the lift and, more importantly, what
would be overstepping the mark. The above pilots in particular managed to draw the perfect
line between aggression and knowing the limits of the air. Very impressive stuff.
By virtue of not getting dumped
on by crap air or making any vast mistakes I managed to guide the MG06 Pike to a
satisfying win. Full results are here.
