Lundy F3F

Well we did it!  And it was more than worth it.  We flew every day.  We had three x seven round F3F competitions, which were without doubt the most consistent and rewarding I have ever flown in.  We had a brilliant social time.  And... we are definitely going to do it again!

The weather was so good for sloping that you have to worry it was a fluke.  The regulars say that's why they keep coming back and for sure there were several times that huge storms on the horizon kept breaking up and never arrived as far as far as the island.  We all left with loads of air time, loads of F3F, suntans and rather grumpy livers.  It would be rude not to mention the island itself, which really is a truly magical place in its own right.

Such consistent conditions really allowed pilots to learn from set up and style changes.  Richard Bago and Paul Middleton really got their Vikos' going and I have to say that if I hadn't already got enough models to last a lifetime then I'd be in the Vikos queue like a shot.  Before you even consider how competitively priced they are, the performance over a whole range of conditions and flying styles left most of us a little gobsmacked.

The competitions were really close, with a very tight spread of times.  Some of the new guys really were impressive, as were Pete Gunning and Joel West who certainly kept me on my toes.   Results are below.

There's a slideshow of some photos below, be sure to use the button on the show that looks like this Untitled-1.jpg (1832 bytes) to see it full screen.   There are also a load more photos on Flickr here and my favourites are here.
