I don't know anyone who would
disagree that the MPX 4000 is the most flexible production transmitter on the planet.
More than that, when you've used one for a while they become part of you, so much
so that you wonder how you could make do with anything else. Having it discontinued
because certain components are no longer produced has lead to many people, including me,
getting a back up.
Last week I had the first sport
flying session for ages testing out my new Ceres. What it showed was that the Ceres
is indeed a rather nice piece of kit and that my Tx battery was past its best. After
a quick word with MPX guru Mike Ridley who confirmed that the 4000's 6 cell pack was ideally
suited to Lipo conversion I decided to go down that route. The back up Tx I had was
already converted but I looked around for a better fitting battery.
A few minutes on the web found
me the FLIGHTPOWER EVO25-3700 2S which slots straight into place. One thing I did do
was put in a couple of cable ties to keep the power cable away from the moving parts.
I'll charge through the balancing lead. Obviously the standard disclaimers
apply - you do this at your own risk etc.
